I made kicharee tonight. I became a little obsessed with it after having a bowl of it at Annapurna in Santa Fe. It’s Ayurvedic, and is supposed to balance the body’s Ph, restore harmony and balance, and to speed healing. I guess some people go on kicharee-only cleanses and fasts. I didn’t make it because of this, but because I really liked it. Even though it looks like mush, it has lots of ginger, garlic, tumeric and Indian spices in it. Great for the cold weather. This is a shot of the beans (split peas) and rice in progress. I’ll post a finished picture tomorrow, because I ate my bowl too fast, and I think it’s one of those great dishes that are even better the next day. |
