I didn’t take any pictures all day because D and I were going to cook miso-kale soup and bake some lemon tofu. I had intended just to document that and post the results.

However, it turns out that somewhere between the grocery store and the apartment we lost the key to the apartment, locking ourselves out. We looked around the courtyard and the complex’s parking lot with no luck, so we drove back to the grocery store, scouring the lot and the store. No dice there either. So we returned to the apartment to look some more.

We called D’s parents to get the landlord’s phone number. Luckily he was home and had an extra key. He came to give it to us, and with the bright headlights on his SUV he actually found our lost key in the snow.

But on the way from the car to the apartment with the groceries, I slipped on some ice and went chest first onto the concrete. I was spared serious injury, but with that it was decided to scrap dinner, opting instead to go out. Given the events of the evening, I neglected to bring my camera. Which was a shame because the food was great. Both D and I got the vegan soft tacos—two corn tortilla tacos filled with spiced tempeh, vegetables, avocado, salsa fresca, and a creamy “nut cheese”.

The picture is one of the notebooks I used to take notes from a variety of readings for my thesis. Each flag has code initials I use to tag themes I am looking for.

For instance:
N = narrative
BK = the book as an object
PT = characteristics of print
NM = characteristics of digital new media
D = design
M = mediation
RM = remediation

And so forth.
