After nearly two weeks, my stomach has finally decided to rebel against me. Not horribly, just enough to be inconvenient. I blame all of the fresh fish. For the past two days that’s all I’ve eaten. Shrimp, squid, whole fish of some sort or another, every meal with something that swims. I’m not complaining really. It could be worse. I burnt my legs today too, but to complain about it doesn’t really seem fair since the reason I burnt them was because I was laying on the top deck of our junk (sailboat) while we cruised through Ha Long Bay. It was gorgeous out and the islands floated by peacefully as we sailed along. And now, I’m sitting on my plush bed, in the provided plush robe writing this blog. Nothing really to complain about. In a few minutes I’ll go downstairs and wander around for a few hours before meeting up with a very nice German couple we met on the boat and heading out to our first dinner in Hanoi. Even the three hour return trip from Ha Long City wasn’t really all that bad. Rushing past rice paddies and water buffalos. Things you see in books and think don’t really exist but actually, still do. So nice today. For the first time in awhile, it didn’t even rain. |
